Zombie Ground Breaker
This is what the prop looks like once it is assembled.
First, build a simple box out of plywood, MDF, of what ever scraps you have. Use a red rope light (very affordable, safe, and available at most hardware stores--especially Home Depot).
Then glue blocks of wood to stake the zombie bust into (#1). Be sure to drill holes into the blocks for the ground stakes to go into.
Staple extra fuses inside your box so you don’t lose them (#2).

When you build your box, you can create a lip that your screen can drop into. Use a light diffuser/screen available at a hardware store. They come in a 2’ by 4’ piece and I spray painted mine with flat black. This will allow you to lay leaves or bark over your prop to create the ground effect.
I also used a fabric screen to prevent excessive dirt from getting into the box.
Cover the box with bark or leaves. You can put it in your haunted garage or your yard.
Finally, put your ground breaker’s stakes into the wood blocks. Throw a tombstone behind it all and it will look like he’s coming right out of the ground. Spooky!
